Keyword Density Explained

Keyword density refers to the percentage of a keyword or keyword phrase on a given page. While article writers figure out keyword density based solely in comparison to the content of the article, for SEO purpose, you need to take into account the entire HTML source code of the specific page. Search engine robots crawl through the source code of your web page, reading every line regardless of whether it’s relevant to the actual body of content or not, so figuring out your keyword density from your source code is by far your most accurate representation of that figure.
