Windows Live Writer – Most Popular Blog Posting Client

Once you get into the swing of things with writing on your blog, you’ll probably want to do some of your writing offline or all in one place. While many of the different blog CMS have great back ends for blogging in, they still don’t have everything you need in one place.

The most popular offline blog writing software at this point seems to be Windows Live Writer. It doesn’t have any support for anything other than (you guessed it) Windows, leaving a lot of bloggers out in the rain. This is unfortunate and borderline confusing that such a powerful application only works for one operating system. But despite all of that, it still seems to be the most popular one of the bunch.

Windows Live Writer allows you to do everything you would normally do, but in a very easy to use WYSIWYG editor. It even allows you to load up what you’ve been writing into a preview box that displays the article properly formatted on the website you’re working with. This is very handy for making sure that the pictures and article lengths all line up perfectly, leaving you with little to no margin chance of messing things up when it goes live.

If you manage multiple blogs, you can easily load it up with the different sites that you’re working with. That can save you a lot of time when it comes to writing as you won’t have to worry about different formating rules or what site you need to log into, you can do it all from one client. For those of you on netbooks or UMPCs, the client is actually fairly small in size as well, so you won’t really have much to worry about there.
