If Content Is King, What’s Quantity?

Posted by seoman 18 August, 2008

Content is King. Period the end.

But how much content is the question?

You’ll hear many different answers regarding this question, and they all do hold some weight, but the truth of the matter is that we’ve already seen the results of this and can attest that quantity is the least important part of content when it comes to SEO.

It doesn’t matter how many pages you have on your website or how long your articles are; what matters is exactly how useful the search engines deem your site to be. This isn’t just something that they guess at either. Those who visit your site and seem to find what they need and either end their search there or make a purchase have essentially solidified the fact that the content on your site is exactly what they needed. What better endorsement could you get then that?

So while there are plenty of SEO oriented individuals out there churning out page after page of content like it’s their job (and for many of them, that’s all their job is), you need to realize that this isn’t the way to go if you want to properly optimize your site. But how should you go about that?

Well, instead of just writing an article for the sake of putting a post up that day, put some additional research into it. If you can’t be the end solution for that specific question that you’ve set out to answer, figure out who can and point your visitors too them (hopefully they’ve got an affiliate program or something to make the pain of losing a visitor that much sweeter). You’ll soon find that if you can answer one question for an individual, they’ll at least give you another shot at answering a future question. Proper content is the only way you could answer that future question and keep them in check.

Forget about quantity. Go for quality. Besides, writing filler articles is about as much fun as reading them.
