Will Google Suggest Change The Playing Field?
Google could very well be changing the entire SEO game on us very shortly thanks to their improvement on the Google Suggest tool. If you’re not already familiar with it, we’ve seen it very active in Google Chrome and every other Google toolbar out there as a way to offer up suggestions as to what the user is actually looking for. The Suggest tool manages to negate a lot of the issues that people had been having with entering in misspelled words and what not. This will specifically cut out those website owners that managed to make their site what it is today due to the use of misspelled domain names.
For the rest of you out there with legitimately SEO’d websites and valid search terms, what this means is that you’ll have to start tailoring your keywords to the keywords Google uses for the Suggest tool. This will essentially cut out all the competition or even usefulness of long tail obscure keywords for all users that are taking advantage of this tool. Considering that you can see elements of this tool in the Firefox search bar and Google Chrome already, it’s hard to think that it won’t be come one of the more popular ways to search from now on. This basically feeds the user the keyword they’re looking for and makes the competition for those keywords that much more difficult.
The big question remains: What will SEO do to handle this issue? Google is the big dog on campus and they can absolutely change the rules whenever they want. But does that mean that all that time and money spent chasing the lesser keywords has essentially been squashed? We at SEOTimes.net would love to hear your opinion and ideas for how to take on this situation. We’ve all go to face the fact that this could easily be the new way that people search. And if it’s Google who makes it catch on, everyone else will eventually follow suit.
