The Good Side Of Reciprocal Link Building
Reciprocal links are considered to be the black sheep of link building. The goal behind most link building strategies is to just get one way links to your site and link out as little as possible. Through this method, you keep a majority of the link juice in your site and receive plenty from other websites.
The issue here is getting sites to one way link to you. What benefit do you bring them? Can they find better elsewhere? A new site rarely can answer those questions sufficiently enough for the site to consider the request, but many of them will still offer a reciprocal link trade.
Instead of passing that offer by, think for a moment. The more links your site has, the better. While a reciprocal link clearly offers less of a bonus then a one way link, you’re still gaining benefit, and much more benefit then you would be just saying no to the offer. It’s ridiculous to assume that it completely negates the value or even causes a negative effect, which is what most people preach unfortunately.
But there is one concern regarding recipricol links that you’ll need to focus on. Relevancy. These links are visible to your readers and are something that they can easily leave your site to visit. If you send them to junk, they’ll think your junk, and that’s worse then being banned by Google.
Unless you’re a spam site.
