Stripping out the unnecessary meta tags
There has been a long debate about which meta tags actually do well for your site in regards to the search engine spiders that crawl the internet websites. I believe the consensus is that most of the meta data can be stripped out unless it is the title and description tags. These two tags are by far the most important tags that can be used on a site. I believe the title tag carries the most weight in regards to meta tags. If you want to put your keywords in any meta tag, then the title tag would be the one that will provide you with the best results. The description tag is also very useful because with respect to search engine results, the description data can be what actually causes a visitor to inhabit your site or not. That data combined with the title tags can make or break you when it comes to search engine visitors.
All the rest of the meta tags can really be stripped out of your code because you do not need it. You do not need to tell the search engine spiders when to crawl your site because they will do it if and when they feel it is appropriate. You also do not need to tell the spiders who the author of the website is. It is really not necessary to provide that information. If you would just concentrate on your title and description tags, then everything would work well for you. You do not even need to use the keyword tag, because se spiders find the keywords on the page that are relevant to the search, not from your meta tags. Work on putting those keywords in the page content and everything will work out fine. So to sum it up, stop worrying about any other meta tags except for the title and description tags, which are the most important in regards to meta data!
